Do not stay here if you value your privacy.

A front desk employee unlocked my occupied room and walked inside without knocking, announcing himself, or waiting for a response. He didn’t just crack the door open and realize he had the wrong room. He fully entered my room and walked toward the bathroom because he was responding to a complaint about a toilet. Only then did he realize he was in the wrong room.

The explanation I kept receiving was that he had the wrong room. That does not make this acceptable. I could have been changing clothes, sleeping, or in any other private situation. The reason he came to my room was never the issue. Entering an occupied guest room without knocking first is.

What made this even worse was how the hotel handled it afterward. Instead of recognizing the seriousness of what happened, management continued to explain why the employee entered my room, as though the explanation somehow made the violation of my privacy less significant. It didn’t.

The room numbers are large and clearly visible, so I was left questioning what procedures are in place to make sure employees enter the correct room in the first place. More importantly, are employees actually required to knock, announce themselves, and wait before entering occupied rooms? Based on my experience, I have no confidence that those procedures are consistently followed.

After this happened, I no longer felt safe in my room. I kept the privacy latch and deadbolt engaged and even placed a chair against the door because I no longer trusted that someone wouldn’t walk in again.

This is also a limited-service hotel. There isn’t a manager on site around the clock, and when something this serious happened, I did not feel the response reflected the severity of the situation.

I will never stay at this hotel again, and I would not recommend it to anyone. If you choose to stay here, keep your privacy latch and deadbolt locked at all times. Based on my experience, I would not assume your privacy will be protected simply because you are inside your room.

This was our second time staying here and I have mixed feeling now. The first time we stayed was back in Dec, 2025 and it was quiet, comfortable and the breakfast was good. This time around the check in process was still fast and easy, The room was quiet, comfortable and clean but the breakfast was not good, I know it was busy but we waited over 30 minutes for someone to bring more hot breakfast items out since the eggs and bacon were just a bunch crumbs and I don't even remember if I looked at the potato's since the first 2 trays were empty. After waiting 30 minutes drinking our coffee and hoping fresh food was coming out, no food ever came out so we wound up having to go out to get breakfast. Breakfast was included in the price of the room so we should of been able to eat the hotel breakfast but instead we had to check out earlier then we were planning to and find somewhere to eat. I'm hoping the next time we stay it will be better. Extra help should be scheduled when the hotel is booked solid and busy as it was this past weekend.

My first time staying at an Avid. Let me start by saying that the staff was exceptionally friendly and hopeful. The lady at the front desk was super friendly on check-in as well. The rooms are smaller, but no major complaints at all everything was clean.

The only thing I would suggest in this is not anything that the single hotel can do to fix, but in terms of building these types of hotels in the long run having showers with glass doors, makes it difficult when you’re staying with people to use the bathroom and get showers done. Just sort of limits the use of the bathroom when you can see into the shower if you’ve got older kids with you or friends that you’re traveling with etc..
