"Small Jewels" Art Exhibition

Dec 31, 2020
This year marks the 17th annual holiday exhibition at the Peninsula Gallery. “Small Jewels” opens on Saturday, November 28th, and will feature over 120 works from 26 artists. Each piece on display will be $500 or less and 80 square inches or fewer in size. The idea behind this event is to curate a show where clients can find fine original art at gift-giving prices. The line up of local, regional, and international participants includes 19 repeat exhibitors and 7 artists who are new to the gallery. The group consists primarily of oil painters in addition to acrylic painters, pastelists, silkscreen printers, mixed media artists, and one fiber artist. A wide variety of subject matter will be showcased such as animals and landscapes, both coastal and rural, figures, still lives, and contemporary abstracts works. Tony Boyd-Heron, gallery co-owner, states, “Each year, it’s very exciting to get the show up on the walls. It’s always sort of a shock walking into a room lined with so many paintings.”  The exhibition will hang through December 31st. Images in any Peninsula Gallery show may be previewed at www.peninsula-gallery.com, about two weeks prior to the opening and are available for purchase as soon as they are posted there. An opening reception will be held on Saturday, November 28th, during which groups of 12 people will be allowed in the gallery in 20-minute intervals beginning at 5. Attendees must reserve a time slot beforehand and are required to wear a mask. Call (302) 645-0551 or email peninsulagallery1@gmail.com to choose a time slot. The gallery is located in the Shops at the Beacon, 520 East Savannah Rd. Lewes, and is open Tue-Sat, 10-5, and Sun 11-3. Venue: Peninsula Gallery.
