Shop Small Saturday

Shop Small Business Saturday is a chance for you to support your local businesses in the heart of historic Milford. It is a time to think “Small” and shop “Small,” show your support and reinvest in your community because independent businesses give back to their home town.  According to the Seattle Good Business Network, “Small businesses donate 250% more than larger businesses to non-profits and community.”

Local support goes a long way too.  A Civic Economics Study in Grand Rapids, Michigan determined “If you spend $100 at a local business, roughly $68 stays in your local economy. If you spend the same at a large business, only $43 stays in the local economy.”

There are a lot of ways to participate this year in Small Business Saturday. As a Milford resident you can go shopping or dining at a small business, invite friends to shop and it’s never too early to tackle that holiday gift list.  Spread the word through social networks #ShopMilford.

Shop Small tote bags can be picked up at various downtown shops beginning today through Shop Small Saturday.  DMI will have a table next to the Santa House in Downtown Milford from 10:30 am - 4:30 pm and free gift wrapping will be available with a receipt in the back room of Gallery 37 from 11:00 am – 4:00 pm. In addition, shoppers will have an opportunity to win a Downtown Milford gift certificate valued at $25, $50, $75 and $100, which can be used to shop or dine at over 15 local Milford businesses.  Buy a balloon for $1.00 at the DMI table to take your chance.  If you’re looking for a special gift, you can’t miss with a Downtown Milford Gift Certificate. Gift certificates are available to purchase at the DMI office at 207 S. Walnut Street year-round or at special events.
