InstaMeet: Hike the Point at Sunset

Feb 29, 2020 • 4:30 pm

Our annual winter InstaMeet at Cape Henlopen State Park is back for 2020! Join us on Saturday, February 29 for a low tide sunset hike at the Point followed by a social with hot drinks and cookies.

The Point separates the Delaware Bay from the Atlantic Ocean and is only open for hiking between October and March. The Point is one of the best places to catch a sunset over the Delaware Bay, and on the night of the InstaMeet, low tide and sunset will happen at roughly the same time.

Do you love Delaware State Parks? Do you want to experience the parks in a unique way? Are you interested in meeting other photographers and Instagrammers in the area who share your passion for the outdoors? If you answered yes to any of the above, then InstaMeets are for you! The DE State Parks marketing team partners with park staff to lead these meetups as a way to connect with our digital audience and share the best experiences our park system has to offer.

Now is your chance to connect with other Park loving photographers, meet the DE State parks marketing team, learn about the park, and watch a sunset. Plus, we will be featuring photos from attendees on our Facebook, Instagram, and blog.

We will meet at the Point Comfort Station Parking lot at 4:30pm. A Park interpreter will join us and lead the hike to provide information about the park’s natural and cultural resources. After the hike, join us in the parking lot for hot drinks and cookies.

Be prepared to hike about 2 miles total in sand. Bring your own camera, sturdy hiking shoes suitable for sand, and a flashlight. Sunset is at 5:53pm, and we will finish around 6:30pm. This event is free, and no registration is necessary. We will hike rain or shine.

Come alone or bring a friend! See you there!
