SUMMARY:Kitchen Stories Landscapes -- in a Professional Kitchen by Susan Ca
 llahan
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:This series is a love letter to the cooks who work everyday in\
nkitchens. It tells the story of women and men who make thousands of\nmeal
s for millions of people everyday and we never know who they are.\n“Life
as a chef is imagined as creative and glamorous because we see\nthe life
of many celebrities chefs on TV and hosting great parties or\neven cruises
\" says chef and artist Susan Callahan. This exhibit is\ndigitally printed
photographs from her kitchen\, as well as a few\nfriends who work as chef
 s. The work is printed onto cotton\, then hand\npainted and machine stitch
ed. The series starts early in the day in a\nkitchen and tells of the dail
y activities of working on the production\nline. The series is primarily b
lack and white to resonate with the\nstainless steel landscape of a commer
cial kitchen. Callahan has worked\nas a professional chef for 30 years and
finds work in textiles to be\nvery similar.  Opening reception: Friday\,
  April 1\, 2022 (5-7pm).\nVenue: Rehoboth Art League.
